Update Order Settings

Introduction

There are several order settings that you can configure that will allow you to control when and how your customers' points balances will be calculated on their purchases.


Set Up Order Channels for Rewards

Follow these steps to customize which order channels should be included in your loyalty rewards program:

  1. Navigate to Preferences > Orders > Reward customers for shopping

  2. Select one of the three channel options based on your business needs.

    Online only

    In-store only (POS)

    Online and in-store (POS)

  3. Click Save

Tips: Only Starter plan and above support POS coupons in the POS App.

💡 Prerequisites: Before configuring order channels, ensure that your "Place an order" earning rule is enabled in your loyalty program settings. Without this earning rule active, customers won't earn points regardless of your channel settings.


Set Up Rewards by Order Status

You can update your order settings by going to Preferences > Orders. Once you've accessed your order settings, you can choose which order statuses customers can earn points for. These statuses include:

  • Paid

  • Fulfilled


Reward Points on Taxes and Shipping

Your program's order settings give you the option to reward customers for different parts of an order, including the subtotal (by default), discounts, taxes, and shipping. Simply check the box to include taxes or include shipping as part of the rewardable total for the order.

📝 Pro Tip: Rewarding customers for taxes and shipping is a great way to demonstrate your program's value by helping customers earn as many points as possible per order. If your customers' point balances are low, you can easily boost them by allowing them to earn points on their discounts. This will get them excited to earn and redeem more rewards, keeping them actively engaged in your program.


Set Up Points Cancellation

You can deduct points awarded if the order's financial status changes to any of the following:

  • Refunded

  • Partially refunded

  • Voided/Canceled


Activating Subscriptions Purchase

To enable rewards for subscription purchases, go to Preferences > Orders and activate the Subscription Purchase option.

Once enabled, you can customize how loyalty coupons are applied to subscription orders, including setting your preferred coupon combination rules.

⚠️ Warning:

If there is no subscription app installed in your store, but the Subscription Purchase Type is activated, coupon redemption will fail with a validation error.

To resolve this, you have two options:

  1. Install a subscription app from the Shopify app store, which will enable the coupons to work.

  2. Turn off Subscriptions coupons under Preferences > Orders >Subscriptions coupons if you’re not using a subscription app.

Once one of these steps is completed, the redemption issue should be resolved.


Customize Discount Code Prefixes

To begin customizing your code prefixes:

  1. Go to your TrustWILL loyalty dashboard, navigate to Preferences > Orders.

  2. Find the Discount code prefixes section. This is where you can manage and customize prefixes for your discount codes.

Using discount code prefixes, you can easily create a custom view in Shopify > Discounts to search for and filter coupon usage by different reward types.
