How to Import Customer Birthday Data
Step 1: Export your customer list as a CSV file from your previous platform (include Email and Birthday fields).
Step 2: In TrustWILL Loyalty Admin, go to Preferences > Import Loyalty Data.
Step 3: Upload your CSV file using the correct format.
Tips for a Successful Upload
No blank cells are allowed in the Email or Birthday columns.
The email address must already exist as a customer in your Shopify store.
Use one of these date formats:
MM-DD(e.g., 07-23)YYYY-MM-DD(e.g., 1995-07-23)
Valid date ranges:
Year: between 1900 and 2100
Month: between 01 and 12
Day: between 01 and 31
To prevent Excel from auto-formatting the date, pre-format the Birthday column as Text before saving the file.
Once imported, TrustWILL Loyalty will automatically recognize upcoming birthdays and trigger your birthday reward workflows, making it easy to surprise and delight your customers right on time! 🎁
Common Question
If I enable 90-day birthday restriction, will it apply to birthdays imported via CSV?
No. The 90-day restriction only applies when customers update their own birthdays through the loyalty widget.
When you import customer birthdays using the Import Loyalty Data feature, the imported birthdays are treated as merchant-managed data. The system does not validate or apply the 90-day restriction to these imported records.
For example, if a merchant imports a customer's birthday on April 9, 2026 and the customer's birthday is in June, the customer will still be eligible to claim their birthday reward in June, 2026, provided all other reward conditions are met.
